Alex was born in 1994 and has been disabled from birth. She has epilepsy as a by-product of her neurological disorder but don’t tell her she is disabled! You will never meet such a social creature as she has the ability to connect with people like no-one else I know.
Alex attends a community access group “Creativity Inc” in South East Sydney where she gets to enjoy many outings and socialises with both the other attendees and the staff. It is a wonderful centre and has many activities for a vast range of participants from school age to retirement.
I formed At Home With Alex for two reasons, firstly to give back – I donate money from a gold coin donation to enter our home Pop-Up shop and also a percentage of proceeds of sales to Creativity Inc to assist with purchasing materials and equipment for all the participants at Alex’s centre to enjoy.
Secondly, I love shopping and what better way to shop than to have one at home!!!
I stock our “store” with products that are extremely well priced and have a range of clothing, hand made leather goods, jewellery, homewares and soft furnishings.
I host Pop-Up events quarterly or by appointment and our shoppers get to enjoy a lovely afternoon or evening with a glass or two of champers and nibbles and lots of fun (and you may even be tempted to purchase a few items).
Donna (proud mum to Alex)
